Met Gala Fashion Faves

It’s considered the Oscars of the fashion world, the first Monday in May where any and every fashionista dreams of an invite to the Met. Yup, we’re talking about the Met Gala.

This year’s theme of Manus x Machina, fashion in the age of technology, was quite a departure from year’s past, celebrating the future and technology instead of paying homage to the past.

Because this year’s theme is so different from year’s past, so were the looks on the red carpet. Short dresses, sheer bottoms (with some sort of sequined knickers) lots of moody lipsticks, lots a chunky shoes (especially from the Louis Vuitton squad), glittery lids and nails, sleek high ponytails, and silver was literally everywhere.

While there were plenty of “pretty” looks, my favorites were the ones who best matched the theme. Claire Danes’ Zac Posen fiber optic dress was stunning, Elle Fanning looked like the perfect space princess, Nicole Kidman killed as queen of the universe in Alexander McQueen, and Gigi and Zayn looks like the robots' prom king and queen.

Athletes at the Met Gala

Because the Met Gala is a place where all cultures combine with fashion, of course there were athletes present. The New York leagues were well represented, with Melo, Misty, Jeter, OBJ and A Rod all in attendance and looking fabulous.
