The A List: 5.6.16

Alison Pegg

We survived May the Fourth, Cinco de drinko and more during this first week of May. It was a fun one - whew!

Here are some of my faves that I’ve enjoyed this week:

Younger

I can’t remember the last time I streamed two seasons of a tv show in such a small amount of time. I’ve been hearing rave reviews about Younger for a couple years now, it’s the sweet, sexy, and fun show that you forget about because it airs on TV Land. But after finding it and giving it a chance, I am LOVING this show. I identify so much with the main character, Liza, that it scares me, and I adore how the show mixes humor, fashion, and girl talk for a super fun half hour. Now my only dilemma is am I #TeamJosh or #TeamCharles? I can’t decide!

Double Braids

As the temperatures rise, my desire to drag out the hairdryer drastically decreases. Very drastically. But my super thick hair takes FOREVER to air dry (yes, first world problems). So who would have thought that a hairstyle from my childhood would be the answer? When French braided wet, once the hair dries (usually overnight), the next couple days my hair has that perfect cool-girl beachy wave look to it that looks so breezy during the summer months (for longevity, I add scrunch spray to it). Double Braids – more than just a Coachella hairstyle. (image via)

Rhinegeist Peach Dodo

Last week I was all about grapefruit beer, this week it’s time to add another fruit to the mix. Peaches. I was a little leery at first because the peaches are added to a sour dodo beer, but here the peaches are just sweet enough to counteract the bitterness that sometimes gets left behind. Fairly easy to drink, I’ll grab one of these sometimes instead of my glass of sauvignon blanc to pair with a fresh summer meal. As the fruity beer trend continues, I’d definitely recommend this one from Rhinegeist.

Popcorn in a Pickle

Half the fun of going to Trader’s Joe's on a weekly basis is perusing the chips and wine aisles to see what new products they’ve picked up in the last week. Sometimes you find some great flavour combos you never thought you needed, some at the expense of others – RIP cheddar horseradish chips. And my latest find is not only delicious, it’s kind of hilarious too. Yup, it’s called Popcorn in a Pickle, and it’s SO GOOD. It tastes just like the dill pickle chips of my childhood (Canadian snacks FTW!), it’s tangy, it’s crunchy, and it’s super sour, just like you want it to taste. I just wish the bag was shaped like a pickle, the name is so catchy!

Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop the Feeling

Song.

The.

SUMMER.

Whenever Justin releases new music it’s an EVENT. His concerts are by far some of the best that I’ve ever seen. And Can’t Stop the Feeling adds to his already amazing repertoire, it's the summer track we never knew we wanted. It’s feel good, it’s catchy, and he’s right – you can’t stop dancing. This one will anchor my patio parties all summer long. P.S. – how cute are his parents in the video? It's the best dance party/#squadgoals we've seen in some time.
